The Cluffy wedge is an add-on for foot orthotics that are designed to dorsiflex the hallux. The original aim of the Cluffy Wedge was to treat functional hallux limitus, but the Cluffy wedge is also proving useful to treat those with a delay to the onset of the windlass mechanism. The modification has been around in many forms for a long time, but was recently described by Dr James Clough as the Cluffy Wedge. Many people are using the Cluffy Wedge and many people are also using a modification from felt or EVA to achieve the same thing as the Cluffy Wedge. There is a limit to how big a Cluffy wedge can be used under the hallux due to footwear constraints. If there is a large delay to the windlass mechanism, then a heel raise in addition to the Cluffy wedge is indicated.
